Teacher of the Month

Pete was welcomed back from Christmas break with some great news. He was informed that he was chosen by the administration to be Teacher of the Month at his school. Since he will NEVER be caught bragging about this, I feel like I should brag for him. I think it's quite an honor, being a 1st year teacher especially. I was able to attend a breakfast with him yesterday at his school and hear the lovely report the vice-principal made about him. It was quite touching, but the part that stood out the most was his report on Pete's hard work and level of dedication. He said that he arrives at the school every day at 6:30 am and without fail Pete has always beat him there. He was impressed by Pete's commitment level and amount of hard work he is putting in to be a great teacher. It's about time Pete's dedication to work is being recognized. I can't say enough what a great switch this job was for him. It has made a world of difference in our family. The lowly teacher's salary is no longer a concern for us; we have quickly learned that we choose quality of life any day, and we certainly have learned that money can't buy happiness.
Congratulations, Pete. I am so proud of you!!!

It is a happy new year

Our family finished up 2008 in good spirits. The best part of our celebration was having Pete home and being together as a family. We are looking forward to a new year. I recently read a quote: It's not about how life is treating you, it's about how you are treating life. I love that. I'm ready to take life by the horns and live the life we most desire instead of waiting for "life" to hand it to us on a silver platter. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully you all are started off on the right foot!
