I am blogging in behalf of Jen right now. She just informed me that Pete has woken up for a small moment. She does not any one to have a sense of false hope. It is a good sign, but not any sign of being out of the woods. His body temp is at 33 degrees until 11:00 tonight (it has been since 11:00 last night) in order to preserve the cells in the brain and other reasons I don't completely understand. At 11:00 tonight they will slowely begin to warm him up, which will then tell more of the future. For Pete to open his eyes, and squeeze the nurses hand is huge in my book. Not knowing the future, at least she was able to look in his eyes.
The nurse asked him to move his feet and give a thumbs up, neither of which he was able to do. BUT, considering his body is 33 degrees and he is sedated....this is amazing. They have now sedated him again, as they don't want him awake that cold. So again, time will tell. I will update again tonight.
FIGHT PETE!

Roxey...wish I was seeing your name on here under better circumstances. But thank you so much for updating and sharing. This sent chills down my spine and brought tears to my eyes. As you said, no one wants to get a false sense of hope but what a blessing to have those sweet moments.
Fight, Pete, fight!!!
Pete's colleagues in Davis are all pulling for him. He has such a light in his eyes when he teaches. We pray for his full recovery.
Oh, Jen I can't believe that you are having to do something so hard. Of course you are in my family's prayers. I hope for you strength, understanding and that you may continue to feel your Heavenly Father's love for you and your family. Fight, Pete, Fight!
My sweet friend Jen, I love you so much...my heart is broken for you because I know yours is breaking. I wish so much I had the magic words to make it all better, or to somehow bring somekind of understanding of why this is happening to you and your sweet family. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers Jen, and I know You and Pete and your kids will be in the Lords loving hands. Love ya Jen, Nancy Nelson
Jen, My dear sweet niece, I want you to know that since I heard what happened every second of every minute you have been in my heart and prayers. I am so sorry this burden has been laid in front of you. I wished more than anything I could be there and wrap my arms around you, wipe away your tears and make this all go away.
I truly believe in the power of prayer and through that power miracles can and do happen.
From what I am seeing just here on your blog alone ALOT of people are sending some "serious" prayer!!!
You have a family that Loves you so much!! we're right here next to you!!!
Love, Aunt Jan
